2005 was a rough year. We tried to open on Friday the 28th but just didn’t have enough stuff done. We opened the Saturday night without any air props. We opened Sunday with air props but much lighter crowds.
About 4:45 PM on Halloween night, a wicked storm rolled though Houston. We nearly lost the front entry but we quickly lashed down the entry. However we couldn’t save the perimeter walls or some of the other parts of the haunt. It didn’t quit raining until after 8 PM so we closed for the night. Only 25% of the kids braved the weather and went trick or treating.
We decided to open up on November 1st. Everything worked flawlessly but I don’t think we had more than 25 people show up. We had 10 volunteers and everyone had a good time.
A number of new props were added. A converted Butler is one, a pirate skelly captain is another. New costumes were purchased from Morganna at DarkSpectre Designs. A 12ft x 40ft canopy was purchased allowing a much more extensive layout to be designed.
